Cassie Walder
WDAZ News Director
Cassie is a Brookings, S.D. native who joined
WDAZ during the spring of 2001. As News Director
she takes great pride in running the WDAZ
newsroom. She has her Broadcast Journalism
degree from South Dakota State University.
Her television career includes work for South
Dakota Public Television, and Sioux Falls-based
KELO-TV, where she was a reporter-photographer
during college. Cassie has jumped from co-anchoring
WDAZ News at 10 to now co-anchoring WDAZ News
at 6 with Milo Smith. As News Director she
is also the station's daily Assignment Editor.
This year WDAZ News won five first-place awards
from the North Dakota Associated Press, many
of those stories focused on our continuing
coverage of the Dru Sjodin story.

Terry Dullum
WDAZ News Anchor and Producer
For the past seven years, Terry has been the
anchor and producer of WDAZ News @5. He is
a Hillboro, N.D., native. Terry received a
bachelor's degree from the University of North
Dakota. He is also a U.S. Army veteran. Terry
worked at Bismarck's KXMB-TV for several years
before coming to WDAZ in 1975. His years of
feature reporting evolved into the video essays,
"The Dullum File," which air each Friday on
WDAZ News @6 and WDAY News @10 in Fargo. His
news efforts during the 1997 flood disaster
helped WDAZ win a national Edward R. Murrow
Award. He is also a popular speaker throughout
the region. In 2005, Terry marks his 30th
anniversary at WDAZ.

Milo Smith
WDAZ News Anchor and Producer
Milo co-anchors WDAZ News at 6 and 10. In
addition to his on-air duties, Milo is the
producer for the six o'clock news and helps
Lori Cowan put together the 10 o'clock program.
He is a North Dakota native whose first job
in broadcasting was as a part-time DJ at the
AM radio station in Bowman, N.D. while he
was in high school. Milo went on to receive
a degree in Broadcast Journalism from NDSU.
He joined WDAZ in 1996 after working in TV
news in North Dakota and Washington state.
Milo was a key contributor to WDAZ's national
Edward R. Murrow award-winning effort during
the 1997 Red River flood. WDAZ News at 6 was
named the Best Newscast in the state for 2003
by the North Dakota Associated Press and a
story Milo did on small town high school football
won an award in the feature category. Milo
has served as chairman of the American Heart
Association Heart Walk the past two years
and is on the Board of Directors of the Grand
Forks YMCA.

Lori Cowan
WDAZ News Anchor/Reporter and Producer
This is Lori's third position at WDAZ since
her hiring in May of 2003. She was originally
hired as a general assignment reporter. She
then produced and anchored WDAZ Weekend News
for a year. Lori grew up on a ranch near Pierre,
S.D, where most of her family currently lives.
She is the second graduate of South Dakota
State University on WDAZ News' staff (Cassie
Walder is the other). While attending college,
the Northwest Broadcast News Association reqcognized
two of her stories with a first place and
an honorable mention in student market categories.
In 2004, NBNA honored her again with a first-place
Eric Sevareid Award in general reporting for
"Remembering Dru Sjodin." For
the three-part series, Lori and photographer
Chris Regimbal traveled to Pequot Lakes,
MN, for in-depth interviews with Sjodin's
family, friends, teachers and classmates.

Tami Osborne
WDAZ Reporter/Weekend Anchor
Tami joined WDAZ as a reporter in the Fall
of 2004, and was hired as Weekend Anchor shortly
after. Born in Nashville, TN, Tami moved a
lot with her family while she was growing
up, most recently calling Marshfield, MA her
home for the last nine years, and where her
parents still live with her two younger brothers
and younger sister. Tami graduated from Stonehill
College in Massachusetts in May 2003, with
a degree in communication and a minor in journalism.
Tami then went on to get her master's degree
in broadcast journalism from the University
of Miami in 2004. While at the University
of Miami, she worked on the school's UMTV
NewsVision program, where she served as an
anchor, producer, and reporter. Tami started
her career in the newsroom in the summer of
2004 as an intern at WBZ/CBS-4 in Boston.
Because she's from the Boston area, Tami is
a big fan of the New England Patriots and
Boston Red Sox! Though she's lived many places,
she now considers Grand Forks her home!

Lacey Crisp
WDAZ Reporter
Lacey joined WDAZ in December of 2005. She is
originally from Chester, South Dakota and graduated
with degrees in journalism and political science
from the University of Minnesota. During college
Lacey interned at KDLT in Sioux Falls and KARE-11
in Minneapolis, and was also a reporter for
the U's newspaper, "The Minnesota Daily."
She was able to study abroad to Mexico and London
during her collegiate career. When she's not
reporting, you can see Lacey at a coffee shop,
out running or walking her two Shih Tzus, Jaegger

James Degelder
WDAZ Photographer
James is a Red River Valley native from Pembina,
ND. He has his Journalism degree from
the University of North Dakota, where he spent
four semesters working on the school's "Studio
One" program. James has also worked
as a one-man-band reporter. In February
of 2004 James joined the Home Team as a reporter.
As a photographer, he spends time in the field
shooting video with reporters. He also
anchors and shoots video for WDAZ sports.

Chris Regimbal
WDAZ Chief News Photographer
Chris grew up in Stephen, Minn., and has a
speech communications degree from Moorhead
State University in Moorhead, Minn. Hired
as a WDAZ sports photographer in 1991, Chris
later joined WDAZ News and in early 2001 became
chief news photographer. His assignments included
two stories in the Middle East and one in
Europe. Chris' memorable video of the 1997
flood and fire in downtown Grand Forks has
aired internationally on news reports and
documentaries, and his efforts helped WDAZ
News win a prestigious national Edward R.
Murrow Award for broadcast excellence. Honors
for Chris also include one Northwest Broadcast
News Association first-place award and four
Awards of Merit and two North Dakota Associated
Press Broadcast Awards. Chris also is a photographer
for "live" coverage of University
of North Dakota hockey, basketball and football
games seen on WDAZ and cable television's
"Fighting Sioux Sports Network."
He also co-produced "A River Rising,"
WDAZ News' video of its coverage of the 2002
Roseau County flood disaster. His work on
a 2002 story about Young's Store in Middle
River, Minn., received a small station Award
of Merit for Best Use of Video from the Northwest
Broadcast News Association.

James R. Johnson
Managing Producer
James R. Johnson, known around the newsroom
as "JJ", has been with WDAZ News for the better
part of 19 years. He handles many important
duties behind the scenes including writing,
editing video for newscasts as well as WDAZ's
Agenda program. He also updates news stories
on WDAZ's website. JJ is a graduate of the
University of North Dakota and was part of
WDAZ's Murrow Award winning coverage of the
1997 flood.

Lisa Burtness
Associate Producer
Lisa is a North Dakota native, born in Devils
Lake. She attented the University of North Dakota
and graduated with a BA in Public Relations
and Advertising. During her years at the University
she was nominated by a professor for the Who's
Who Among Colleges and Universities award for
a PR Campaign. Lisa joined WDAZ News in the
fall of 2005 as the weekend associate producer.
Lisa has quickly moved up the ladder as a producer
and now helps Terry Dullum produce the 5pm newscast
daily. She is proud to be a member of the Home

Bill Haug
WDAZ News at 5 Market Report
A native of Grafton, N.D., Bill is a North
Dakota State University engineering graduate
whose three-year stint in the U.S. Army included
a tour of duty as a Corps of Engineers platoon
leader in Vietnam. He was discharged as a
first lieutenant in 1971. Bill farmed in the
Grafton area until working in farm lending
from 1981 to 1987. He became a Piper Jaffray
investor in 1988, transferring to PaineWebber
(now UBS PaineWebber) in 1993. A divisional
vice-president, Bill serves as the local branch
manager and a producing advisor who specializes
in equity portfolio management. Bill has provided
market reports for WDAZ News at 5 since the
newscast's debut in October 1997. Bill's staff
substitutes for him on Channel 8 at times.

John Wheeler
WDAZ Television and Radio Meteorologist
John was born in Baton Rouge, LA, and grew
up near Birmingham, Alabama. As a teenager,
his family moved to Madison, Wisconsin and
later to a small town in northeast Iowa. John
traces his early interest in weather to the
difference in climate between Alabama and
Wisconsin. He is a graduate of Iowa State
University with a degree in meteorology. John
has been a meteorologist at WDAZ since May
of 1985.

Daryl Ritchison
WDAZ Television and Radio Meteorologist
Daryl was born and raised in southern Minnesota.
He received a masters degree in geography
from Mankato State University. Daryl joined
the WDAZ weather staff in 1996. He now handles
the morning weather forecasting and reporting
duties on WDAZ's First News, and WDAY radio.

Rob Kupec
WDAZ Meteorologist
Rob is originally from Connecticut, and has
his degree in Atmospheric Science from the State
University of New York at Albany. He has been
at WDAZ since 2002 and also teaches part time
at Minnesota State University Moorhead in the
Mass Comm. Department. In addition to following
the weather, Rob is an avid Red Sox fan and

Pat Sweeney
WDAZ Sports Director, Anchor and Producer
Pat is a St. Paul native who graduated with
a journalism degree from that city's College
of St. Thomas. Pat worked as a Minneapolis
Tribune copy editor, then worked at Williston's
KUMV-TV and Dickinson's KQCD-TV before coming
to WDAZ in 1982. Pat became Channel 8 sports
director in 1983. His "Sports Minuses"
have been a WDAZ staple since 1984. Pat is
the play-by-play voice of University of North
Dakota hockey, football and basketball "live"
telecasts as part of the "Fighting Sioux
Sports Network," seen on WDAZ, on Forum
Communications TV stations and on cable television
throughout the Dakotas and Northwest Minnesota.
He also is WDAZ's host and producer for the
"Sioux Football" coaches show. Pat
is a two-time North Dakota Sportscaster of
the Year recipient, and his work for WDAZ
News during the 1997 flood disaster helped
Channel 8 win a 1998 Edward R. Murrow Award
for spot news coverage.

John Bernstrom
WDAZ Sports Weekend Anchor and Producer
John Bernstrom, a native of Lancaster, MN,
graduated from the University of North Dakota
with a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree
in the spring of 2001. John started working
in the WDAZ Sports department part-time during
college in the fall of 1998. As a part-time
photographer, John traveled with the University
of North Dakota football and basketball teams
to shoot highlights for the WDAZ/UND coach's
shows. In January of 2001, John was hired
full-time as the weekend sports anchor and
a weekday sports reporter. He has hosted the
Sioux Basketball show since 2002 and has been
a part of WDAZ's unprecedented coverage of
Sioux sports. He also does sideline reporting,
color commentary, and has filled in for Pat
Sweeney to do play-by-play for Sioux Hockey.
He's proud to be a member of the WDAZ Home
Team.
