A special seven-day deer season will be allowed in northeastern North Dakota this fall for the first time, to try to reduce the deer numbers there, the state Game and Fish Department says.

Johan Franzen, Brian Rafalski and Tomas Holmstrom scored power-play goals for the Detroit Red Wings, who built a big lead in the second period and coasted to a 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals on Thursday night.
