I-29 ramp closure set today
Forum staff reports
The Forum - 10/18/2002

At 6 a.m. today, the North Dakota Department of Transportation will close the Fargo on-ramp from Main Avenue to northbound Interstate 29 and 36th Street between Main Avenue and First Avenue North to continue dismantling the old railroad bridge.

The on-ramp closure is expected to last into early this evening, while the 36th Street closure is expected to last into early next week.

NDDOT project coordinator Kevin Gorder said the contractor working on the project is "much further along than anyone expected, and we expect them to finish the project well in advance of the completion date."

At the on-ramp from Main Avenue to northbound I-29, two detours will be available:

- West to 45th Street, then north to 12th Avenue North and back east to I-29.

- South on 36th Street to the ramp connection, then north on I-29.

At 36th Street between Main Avenue and First Avenue North, traffic will be detoured east on Main Avenue to 25th Street, north to First Avenue North, then west on First Avenue North to 36th Street.

The on-ramp from Main Avenue to northbound I-29 will be closed when traffic goes head to head next week.

The off-ramp from southbound I-29 to Main Avenue is scheduled to remain closed through the end of next week.
