Woman charged for posing as flood victim to get aid
Mahnomen, Minn.
A 29-year-old woman has been charged in Mahnomen County with one count of misdemeanor theft for posing as a displaced flood victim to obtain aid.

Bonnie Frieda Hariluk, rural Mahnomen, and three others are accused of pretending to be flood refugees so they could stay at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen.

Sheriff’s investigator Brad Athmann said Hariluk allegedly received vouchers, clothing, food and other items.

Arrest warrants were pending Tuesday against the other suspects.

Athmann said the county attorney is looking into the possibility of federal charges since the county and the casino will be reimbursed with federal dollars for money spent on flood evacuees.
